Part III : Evolution of the Nigerian armed forces.

In December 2017 the Nigerian Army Aviation Corp was formally incorporated into the armed forces, as a component of the army. The significance of this capability is truly breathtaking. The air arm gives the Nigerian army a composite third dimension force for an integrated battlefield . For the first time Mi-24/35 helicopter gunships under the control of the army will play the primary role of supporting armoured forces and ground units on the battlefield. This is a quantum leap from the Nigerian army.

The Army Aviation Corp will also be equiped with Mi-17, Eurocopter and Augusta Westland helicopters for combat search and rescue, lifting supplies, medevac etc.
