Mohamed Mallam Arzikar, Nigeria’s Consul General to the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, has cautioned the Nigerian community in the Regions to stay away from the country’s internal politics.
The Consul General was speaking recently in Buea at the end of a working visit to region which was aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties between Cameroon and Nigeria at a time when both countries are faced with political crisis triggered by calls for secession..
While meeting with some Nigerian residents in Cameroon, Mohamed Mallam Arzikar urged them to respect the laws of Cameroon and avoid illegal and secessionist activities in the country.
The Nigerian diplomat also held talks with local administrative authorities and traditional leaders wherein they discussed their different cultures and the implication of traditional rulers in building a spirit of patriotism.
It should be recalled that the South West Region shares boundaries with Nigeria and home to millions of Nigerians involved in trade, fishing and other commercial activities.
